Valley of the Queens

The Valley of the Queens is located on Luxor’s west bank and it contains about eighty tombs inside. It was discovered in 1904. The most well-known tomb there is the one that belongs to Queen Nefertari and it has the number KV21. It was constructed under the orders of king Ramses II who is the wife of the queen and he wanted to let it be a truly fascinating tomb and that is exactly what he has commissioned.

Medinet Habu Temple

The complex of Habu is a wonderful archaeological site located near the foot of the Hills of Thebes opposite Luxor city. The most notable site there is the mortuary Temple of Ramses III which was the most important religious building during the New Kingdom. It such a great source of the most interesting inscribed reliefs on its walls that depict the advent & the defeat of the sea people during king Ramses III’s reign. The best thing about it is that its walls are well-preserved and the temple is surrounded by a massive mud-brick enclosure.

Deir El-Medina

Deir El Medina has been the village of the workers who used to work in the archeological site of the tombs of the pharaohs. It was the home to many craftsmen & artisans of Thebes who were responsible for building and decorating the great royal tombs of the kings in both the valleys of the Kings & the Queens.  The discovery of such a terrific site has revealed a huge quantity of ancient artifacts and lots of texts written on papyri and such written texts assisted a lot in understanding the daily life of the ancient Egyptians and their major customs and traditions.

Ramesseum Temple

This funerary temple was dedicated to pharaoh Ramses II and the most interesting thing about that time is its seated statue of the pharaoh himself and the whole site was actually dedicated to god Amun. Inside the temple, you can explore its half-preserved walls that include some decorated reliefs and many scenes that depict the great Battle of Kadish which is characterized by the first peace treaty in the world. Some other scenes depict the Festival of Min and the Syrian wars.
